Official NJCL/FJCL Events - in order to participate in these events, you must be an official, dues-paying Latin Club/FJCL/NJCL member.
Regional Latin Forum
1/28/2017, either at Satellite High School or at Holy Trinity Episcopal School. $23 (includes transportation, lunch, registration, and awards) due by 12/9/2016. Students must take one academic test, may take another, and may take a creative project with prior approval. Certamen and Olympika are also available and encouraged; we will also need student help running the Olympika for this event. Can be used to fulfill the research paper requirement.
National Latin Exam
3/7/2017 at Spruce Creek High School. $5 registration fee due by 2/28/2017. We will have a qualifying test on February 17.
State Latin Forum
4/5 - 4/8/2017 at the Wyndham Resort at 8001 International Drive in Orlando. Cost is approximately $200 + 7 meals. This is a very prestigious academic competition, which only 25 students from SCHS may attend. Students must take one academic test, and either a second academic test or a creative project. Certamen, Olympika, and a talent show are also available. This is a great opportunity to meet college professors and students who help organize this event.
National Latin Forum
7/23 - 7/30/2017 at Troy State University in Alabama. Cost is approximately $600-$900, depending on the cost and method of transportation, and early registration discounts. All meals during the convention itself are included. Students may participate in as many academic, creative, and Olympic events as they wish, as well as participate in the talent show. (Creatives are limited only by any size and/or packing restrictions.) This is truly a transformational event. While there is no limit to the number of SCHS students who may attend, convention space is limited by the availability of dormitories at the university. In 2016, there were 1,800 available spots nationwide. Registration will open shortly after State Forum.

Spruce Creek Events - JCL Membership not required
These non-competitive events can be used to help meet class requirements.
Forum I
9/10/16 at SCHS. Cost is $20, covering lunch, drinks, snacks, and materials, due by 9/2/16. This event consists of academic workshops, which can be used to help complete the monthly culture project requirement for class, prepare for official NJCL Forum events, and get to know other Latin students at SCHS. There will also be opportunities to make a toga or stola, so you can be officially Roman at any JCL events, and to play in the Olympika.
Forum II
11/5/16 at SCHS. Cost is $20, covering lunch, drinks, snacks, and materials, due by 10/28/16. Bring your required first semester creative project to receive helpful advice to improve your grade before the project is due in December. You may also qualify to bring your project to Regional Forum on January 28, though there will be more chances for you to qualify later. While the judges and advisers are evaluating your projects, you'll have a chance to act as an archaeological sleuth. Help your teammates excavate a grid square from an imaginary site. Once the excavations are done, summarize your results for the other teams, and try to figure out exactly you have found. Head to lunch to share stories, and then meet with the judges and art advisers for questions and answers about your project. If you've chosen to write a modern myth, give a declamation or oration, or recite a dramatic interpretation, you'll have a chance to get some help with those, also.
